STORM RUN

Ran the lake loop, my goal to maintain
My body and mind and power.
Along the way came a relentless rain
An unwanted freezing cold shower.

Sidewalks were flooded, I blindly dashed
Toward home while dripping and shivering.
Forded rivers and streams like a duck I splashed,
Through torrent, bones chilled and quivering.

An old man, I run to sustain
My health, and enjoy surreal zen.
When you’re fit, what’s a little rain?
Hot bath restores well-being again.
