NUKE IT
In microwave I have
an advanced diploma—
My tummy is growling
from the mellow aroma.
Like ball bearings
on a roof of tin,
My popcorn is
staccato— what a din!
Kernels blasted with
my 1200-watt
Were thoroughly
popped, all fluffy and hot.
(But a few of those
babies have failed to pop;
Next time I’ll give
it 3 minutes nonstop.)
Five pinches of salt
in my recipe,
(Prob’ly more ‘n
there needs to be.)
Drowned with a
half-cup of melted butter
Mouth-watering
anticipation— my heart’s all a-flutter!
Salt and butter and
starch— the good stuff,
At toxic levels,
it’s never enough.
Ahhhh. Finished
eating, I’ve found bliss indeed.
Should I do a new
batch to satisfy greed?
Nope. Because climate-caused
famine is global,
I’ll limit my
snacking – that would be noble.
