Perception

I walked through the peace of a crystal-clear night;
The heavens were calming, and welcoming and bright.
In a vast starlit sky the tilted half-moon
Stirred music within— Debussy’s Clair de Lune.
Spellbound, with fascination I gazed up in wonder
At this compelling object in the firmament yonder.
A translucent cirrus across it would change
Its apparent expressions. In fact, these would range
From scowlish to owlish, now tight-lipped and prim
Then jovial, now pensive, then joyous, now grim.
From angry to worried to jolly then confused;
To calm, confident, inspired, and amused.
The radiant moon goddess continually beamed
Her unique flow of emojis, delightfully streamed.
Moon faces are what we all expect to see;
Impressions are what we all wish them to be.
