Our Power is in Our Vote

                                        

Gifted his office by electoral college;

Trolls in Russia employed skills and knowledge
To exploit the fears of our naive voter base
And tip the 2016 scales; Trump "won" the race.

We granted him office, so don't blame the guy.
Judged a book by its cover. Blame you and I.
We voted him in. We dropped the ball.
Did we know his true character?
Nope. Not at all.

The dealmaker we neglected to vet
Is now a disaster we've come to regret.
We failed to examine his values within.
Our system allowed him to game himself in.

We can be more responsible voters
By rejecting unethical self-promoters.
Investigate each candidate. Be a good sleuth.
Have thorough awareness, then enter that booth.

Let's do our homework- how hard can it be?

Informed voting's critical if we want to remain free.
