TO AMERICAN MEN

America, where has our kindness gone?
Morality and compassion we’ve withdrawn.
Our ideals of tolerance, equality and diversity
Were replaced by greed and inhumanity.
Those who are different we demean and exclude.
We're xenophobic, hateful, reactive, and rude.
We need a renewal of ethics and virtue;
A recharge of character with growth anew.
Let's examine our fear, let go of control,
And smother the hubris that conflicts with our soul.
We must moderate our callous incivility
And tame our toxic masculinity.
Let’s unlearn male dominance and relearn humility;
Discover ourselves and gain new respectability.
We must begin to ask for needed assistance,
And humanize ourselves to justify our existence.
Uncaring egotism consumes us within.
Let’s displace it with kindness.
Humanity can win.
