Who You Can Be

Vicelike walls constrict and oppress you.
Force you further within your dark, ever-restricting cube.
You are claustrophobic with limitations of rules,
Externally-imposed boundaries, and binding inhibitions.

Besieged by overwhelming competing demands,
You suffocate in misery within the oppressive gloom,
Begin to drown in hopelessness,
And sink below the darkest depths of despair,

But your survival instinct will not accept finality.
You gain a flicker of objective awareness: you are not helpless.

And beyond the gloom, a radiant vision opens before you—
An ideal future of truth, justice, nonviolence, and benevolence.
Use your unique strengths in pursuit of
the rights and well-being of others.
Your wisdom, tolerance, and understanding can heal our world.

Health, contentment, and a good life await you.
