I chose to run.
In rhythmic, relaxed footfalls and breathing,
I increased pace and stride,
And felt nuances of changing dynamics
In feet, calves, thighs, hips, shoulders, arms;
Felt smooth harmony propelling me forward;
Felt endorphins diffusing through body and mind;
Felt sharpening of senses, cognition, motivation, and confidence;
Felt oxygen recharging lungs, brain and muscle;
Felt sweat cooling my back.
I moved in soft, relaxed grace – just me, the trail, the sky.
Privileged with freedom, and the joy of mobility, strength and energy,
I chose health and fitness.
I chose mastery.
