Seek feedback from a wide range of
objective evaluators. Ask: What are my strengths? What am I doing well? What is
reducing my effectiveness? What do you think I should do to increase my
effectiveness? How can I improve?
You may receive unsettling, harshly
critical responses, but you must resist growing defensive. In the moment,
accept criticism gracefully, and thank the provider. Later, carefully examine
and weigh all aspects of this valuable feedback. As importantly, review and
understand your immediate reactions to it.
Welcoming of criticism reflects maturity.
Integrating the well-intended suggestions of others may improve your
functioning.
