Give Us Your Best

The Irish, with allegory and phrases rhetorical
Have bestowed us for ages with gifts metaphorical.
The dreams of her poets will forever soar ...

Above River Moy's peaceful shore.
On a soft shamrock carpet of deep Kelly green,
A young bard writes sonnets to his fair young colleen.
With emerald isle roots in Mayo or Killarney,
Your luck of the Irish is the gift o' the Blarney.
Your leprechaun gave you a fine pot of gold;
You must share it (in words) before you grow old!
