To the Heartland

May I remind you, in case you've forgotten?
Trump’s tariffs don’t work: Xi buys from Brazil.
Your soybeans fill bins, all unsold and rotten.
His trade war leaves you no orders to fill.

He fails in this game, Donnie the con.
While your soy farms lay fallow, flooded or failed,
In his quest for more power, you are his pawn.
Many of you go bankrupt; others are jailed.

Farm bailouts for ballots is his remedy (tit-for-tat),
But you now slide down a soybean oil slope.
Tax dollars bought bailouts and your new MAGA hat.
Your vote was misplaced, not to mention your hope.

He schmoozes with Putin; his assets grow fat.
He’s golfing and boat-bombing; you’re barely existing.
He governs by whim ― imagine that.
He laughs at you farmers in the wind slowly twisting.
