An old wet blanket is Senate “Leader” Mitch.
Middle-class help gets thrown in the ditch.
Blocking all efforts to heal social ills,
He grins and rejects all bipartisan bills.
Lacking the skills of a constructive mediator,
With gavel in hand, he's a ruthless Terminator.
Forget Mitch passing anything progressive—
His Senate's output is rigidly regressive.
For years his promotion of conservative policy
Stalled bills which could enhance our democracy.
Generous super PACs preserve his position
As a self-serving, power-mongering far-right politician.
Raked in a fortune during his political career
(he’s paid to block gun control, it would appear).
NRA money to his outstretched hand
Has increased violent deaths across our land.
He’s become indifferent to preventable suicides
And is apparently numb to mass homicides.
Betraying the honor of his Senate seat,
His inaction fails to stop death in the street.
He casually dismisses family deprivations:
Their plight's irrelevant to his incoming donations.
Hunger, joblessness, nothing to eat.
Evictions; no healthcare; crime in the street.
He salutes Mar-a-Lago while thousands have died
And flings all family-saving initiatives aside.
He's forsaken our people for his financial gain
While evidencing no compassion for their economic pain.
The poster child for orthodox conservatism
Is not above outrageous, flagrant nepotism.
(Got his brother-in-law a Federal slot.)
No problem: Trump unashamedly did that a lot.
He embodies partisan obstructionism,
And cultivates special interest protectionism.
Gloating and smug, he feathers his nest,
Parses out favors and fills his war chest.
As long as this dinosaur remains obstructive,
Expect more of the same (nothing constructive).
